Your name is Diane, so who is the Donna of Donna & Company?
Donna was my younger sister who was killed in an automobile accident while still a teenager and for whom I named my business.   A vivacious and socially conscious young woman, Donna volunteered at a New Jersey summer camp for brain injured children until her untimely death.  After her passing, the facility was named Camp Donna in her honor and continues their work to this day.  Every person who asks me, “Who’s Donna?” keeps Donna’s memory alive for me today.

What is the difference between your CocoaBee and Donna Toscana lines?
In keeping with my affiliation with the SlowFoods movement, both lines are made with locally sourced ingredients when available, and use no artificial preservatives.

My Donna Toscana chocolates are inspired by the work of master Chocolatiers with whom I met in and around Florence, Italy.  Donna Toscana chocolate pieces feature dark chocolate and unique combinations of spices and flavors that are found in the Tuscany area, such as my Olive Oil & Sea Salt truffle.

CocoaBee chocolates combine the SlowFood perspective with ingredients from my home State of New Jersey.  My CocoaBee Honey Carmels, for example, are made with honey from New Jersey apiaries.  As of this posting, we are the only chocolate firm that is certified to use the Made With Jersey Fresh symbol.

Fisher House Foundation

You support the Fisher House Foundation, who are they and why your interest?
The Fisher House Foundation builds homes-away-from-home for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The homes are normally located within walking distance of the treatment facility or have transportation available. There are 53 houses on 21 military installations and 17 veterans installations.  As the mother of a former Marine and the mother-in-law of an active Army Captain, I have a special place in my heart for those who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way and who now need our help.  I invite you to consider helping the Fisher House Foundation by clicking here.
